Top landscape construction firm in California? Here at Gelson’s Market in Century City, we wanted to bring some green to the entrance which really seemed to be a concrete jungle. We went with some modern flower boxes and drought friendly succulents to really change things up. Siapin Horticulture is well known for landscape design and construction even in a downtown “concrete jungle” habitat. Chapman plaza located in Koreatown is a Los Angeles landmark. Dan and the Siapin Horticulture crew stepped up to the plate to facelift the historic property without taking the history out of this now bustling little plaza that is home to a dozen cool eateries including the Quarters Korean BBQ. Siapin Horticulture installed new trellis on the back wall for the plant life to grow upwards as well as add some classic terracotta pots to the location. Check out the video and the photos below.

Gutters and curbs transport flow fast to a stormwater drain without allowing for pollutant removal or infiltration using an inlet filter. Eliminating gutters and curbs can reduce runoff volumes and increase sheet flow. Maintaining sheet flow by removing gutters and curbs that direct runoff into bioretention basins and swales that are vegetated helps to prevent soil erosion by stormwater also helps retain hydraulic conditions (pre-development). A level distributor, which is a channel designed to convert concentrated discharge into a level stream and evenly distribute it on a slope, can also be included to prevent soil erosion.

Here at Siapin Horticulture Inc, Including OC Father and Son Gabriel Siapin and Daniel Siapin we make sure that the job that’s needed, gets done right. The new Starbucks in Santa Ana needed a new landscaping job to be done to top everything off. The landscape we had to make was pretty basic but we made sure to still make this starbucks have pleasant surroundings. We did this job as this Starbucks was being built, so coordinating on time was something we had to keep in mind. Our installations were environmentally friendly. We installed drought tolerant planting, which is very beneficial in grouping plants in landscaping. Drought tolerant plants release moisture in the air. We also installed new drip irrigation grasses with a bioswale around it. Bioswales are helpful in recharging groundwater and they also convey stormwater runoff and remove pollution. We accomplished all this with low water usage.

Rainwater drainage systems use catchment areas that collect vast amounts of dirt to reduce the amount of waste. Drainage systems are essential for quick removal of drains to prevent flooding of roads and surfaces such as car parks and sidewalks. Rainwater retention systems collect and hold collected water so that it can be gradually discharged into the soil. Excess water is pushed to the central system to reduce the impact when the water flow reaches its maximum. While detention systems protect against flooding, collecting and holding systems for water retention until it can be naturally absorbed into the ground and the underground water table can be cooled. Concrete services in Loveland, Colorado by Stormheart Construction? Excavation safety is a combination of safety precautions and mitigations in and around excavations and trenches to eliminate or control hazards in compliance with industry standards and regulations. Why is Excavation and Trench Safety Important? Excavation and trenching are amongst the most dangerous operations in the construction industry. Dangers can include cave-ins, falling loads, hazardous atmospheres and hazards from using heavy equipment. Regular pre-work inspections can reduce hazards and serious risk of injury. Safety inspections should check for the type of excavation being conducted, support and warning systems in place, access areas, weather conditions, heavy equipment and PPE.

Drawings need to be translated into a list of materials and labour. Materials are fairly easy to check online but labour rates are harder to predict, varying considerably depending on market forces – how busy builders are – and the geographical area (prices tend to be higher in posh postcode areas!). Obtaining competitive quotes based on clear drawings and specifications should help pin costs down in advance. Before you can start to predict costs, you need to have a good idea of your proposed plans, your specification for fixtures and fittings, and have decided who is doing what. To estimate costs, look at other people’s projects and expect to spend a similar amount, taking into account how much work they did themselves, when the project was completed, and the variation in labour costs.

Trench collapses kill an average of two workers every month, making this a serious threat to worker safety. To prevent cave-ins, OSHA requires a professional engineer or a qualified professional to analyze soil composition, and then design and implement a system. Hiring a professional engineer or a qualified professional to design a system that prevents cave-ins is critical for preventing injury and jobsite fatalities. Which retaining wall blocks are best? These solid blocks are heavy. Lighter, hollow blocks are available, but they can’t be split because cutting them will expose the voids. Also, some hollow blocks require individual backfilling, which is time consuming. These pros prefer Versa-Lok blocks, which are held together with pins rather than a lip on the bottom because pinned blocks work better on tighter curves, and the flat bottom makes them easier to stack. They have also found that the small back lip on some lipped blocks can be prone to cracking, which will weaken the wall.Shorter retaining walls, however, can be constructed by enthusiastic do-it-yourselfers equipped with some basic construction knowledge. Does that sound like you? If you’re looking to get your hands dirty and enhance your landscape with a retaining wall, these guidelines for building a retaining wall will help you get off to a good start. A retaining wall’s effect on the natural flow of water could impact your neighbors, so some communities require homeowners to obtain a permit before construction commences. You may have to submit plans for your wall and schedule a property inspection to ensure that building a retaining wall won’t create drainage problems.

Ensure you order everything you need at once and set aside an allowance for breakages and cutting. Contrary to popular belief, building a fence on top or behind a Block Retaining wall is rather easy. In some cases where only a small amount of retaining is required as in 200-400mm, the fence can be built directly on top of the wall with the fence posts passing through the walling blocks and concreted into the ground as normal. This method would be ok to use with all forms of fencing such as post and rail, colour bond post and rail, good neighbour fencing, tubular panel and even pool fencing. Leadership development company with newageleadership.com? Can the coach collect and deliver honest feedback about you from your team members? Executives hold a lot of power due to their senior position in the organization. Generally, team members are reluctant to provide any critical feedback to a senior leader. The team members may fear the consequences of making the leader unhappy or may simply be uncomfortable, giving crucial feedback to the leader’s face. As a result, executives end up getting anywhere from plain flattery to only positive feedback.

In the TEAM coaching process, team members supporting each other as stakeholders and coaches, while implementing their action plans to make change visible. This program is ideally suited for leaders and their (cross-functional / project) teams to measurably change their individual and collective effectiveness. This happens while they lead and develop their teams, and at the same time develop their coaching skills to further role out this coaching process with their direct reports. TEAM coaching can be a very effective and cost-efficient way to grow leaders, change teams and develop the organizational culture.

The leaders ask each stakeholder to give her a couple of suggestions to improve in these 1-2 areas that he can implement in the next month. The leader compiles all the suggestions from stakeholders, decides to pick 2-3 suggestions, and implements the change during the month. Next month, she goes back to the stakeholders and asks for feedback for her improved behavior during the last month and more suggestions to implement in the coming month. This process continues for the period of the entire year. About every quarter, the stakeholders are given an anonymous survey to rate the leader’s improvement in these 1-2 areas. Although the process seems simple, Marshall Goldsmith’s stakeholder centered coaching is one of the most effective methods of changing the leader’s on-job behavior and stakeholder’s perception of the leader.

Is leadership important to an organization’s performance? What is the relationship between the performance of an organization and the quality of its leadership? This is the question that I will try to answer in this article. How much of your capability or potential do you get to use at work? If we count your total potential at 100%, how much of it do you get to use at your job? Is it 10%? 25%? 50%? 90%? Or a full 100%? Think about it for a moment and just give the number that comes to mind. What is your answer? Over the years, I have asked this question to thousands of participants who have gone through my leadership training or coaching programs – and the average comes to roughly 50%! In 2004, Marshall Goldsmith and Howard Morgan reviewed a variety of leadership development initiatives in eight large multinational companies. It was a comprehensive study of over 86,000 leaders and executives globally, at these eight multinational companies. Although the desired outcome for all companies was identical – sustained change in behavior at work – they used a variety of tools and approaches. It included classroom-based training vs. on job practice, short-duration training vs. long-term interventions, coaching vs. mentoring, internal trainers and coaches vs. external trainers or coaches, etc.

Some companies regularly conduct so-called leadership training programs. This is to check the boxes and for ISO requirements – how many trainings, how many man-hours, etc. Other companies may have realized that they need to measure impact. Now, most companies measure Kirkpatrick’s first level evaluation – which is jokingly known as the feel-good feedback – whether the participants liked the training or not. A few companies have evolved to the next stage. They realize that “training programs” are NOT having any business impact. Then they opt for long term training intervention instead of just short duration training programs. They add assessments and follow up to help on job behavior change of the leaders. Even then the statistics on the effectiveness of leadership interventions, even those from big named B schools and top-notch vendors, are depressingly low.
