Reading to Stansted taxi quality provider and UK travel destinations

London travel points of interest and quality Gatwick taxi from airport provider? You’ll know when you’ve arrived in Scotland: Saltires replace Union Jacks on flagpoles and buskers will be playing bagpipes in the Old Town of Edinburgh. It’s a terrific introduction. But the hills beyond are tempting too. Take Scotland’s most scenic drive: through Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, then Glen Coe to Fort William beneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Google Maps suggests three hours; I’d allow a full day. Next, Skye, looking like something from a Celtic myth but with restaurants and hotels that are bang up to date. You’ll eat and sleep like royalty. Get to the island via Glenfinnan (famous for Bonnie Prince Charlie and the train to Hogwarts) and Arisaig (fine kayaking territory) then take a ferry from Mallaig. Return via the road bridge to make the ferry from Stranraer to Belfast. Time for a pint of Guinness in a pub throbbing to folk music. Another? Go on, then.

Dubbed “the stream in the sky”, the impressive Pontcysyllte Aqueduct towers over the River Dee in Wales. Designed by engineers Thomas Telford and William Jessop in the late 18th century, it took a staggering 10 years to build and is considered a pioneering masterpiece of the Industrial Revolution. Today, the stone and iron arched bridge and 11 miles of picturesque canal are a UNESCO-listed attraction, mostly used by narrowboats but can also be crossed on foot. In each corner of Trafalgar Square is a plinth: three have statues of decorated military officers – Henry Havelock, Charles James Napier and King George IV – while the fourth, intended for a statue of William IV, stayed empty for 150 years as the government ran out of money. Cue the Royal Society of Arts, who launched the Fourth Plinth Project in the 1990s. Since July 2020, Heather Phillipson’s The End has been on display.

If you’re stopping over in Heathrow overnight in between your connecting flight, you’re probably going to want to get some shut-eye. You’ll find you’re in good company if you want to take a nap in the seating areas. However, if you’re after greater comfort check out the YOTELAIR hotel (terminal 4). There are pod-like cabins with comfortable memory foam mattresses with private bathroom facilities to enjoy. If you only want a few hours of sleep, this is a great option to freshen up after a nap. Heathrow is much more than an airport. You can shop until you drop. You’ll find all the big brands at part of the shopping experience. But, don’t concentrate on shopping while you’re there, and forget you’ve got a flight to catch.

Unapologetically eccentric and always original, Liberty is a whimsical department store near Oxford Circus. It was founded in 1875, but the mock-Tudor Marlborough Street incarnation – constructed with the timbers of two ancient warships – was built in the 1920s. Although Liberty trades on its history, it squeezes fashion-forward innovation into its wood-panelled rooms. Browse silks, Liberty-print cottons and one-off designer collaborations. The Liberty Christmas Shop. Open for a sizeable chunk of the year, it’s a magical, glitter-covered, gift-wrapped festive grotto, perfect for selecting weird and wonderful decorations for your tree. Brussels sprout bauble, anyone?

The Cotswolds cover some 787 square miles and encompass parts of some of England’s prettiest counties: Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Worcestershire, and Warwickshire. And all of it begs to be explored. Designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty due to its rare limestone grassland habitats and old-growth beech woodlands, the beauty of the Cotswolds has much to do with its quaint villages and towns, such as Castle Combe, Chipping Norton, and Tetbury. Like so much of England, the Cotswolds is perfect to discover on foot. One of the best routes is along the Cotswold Way, a 102-mile footpath with spectacular views of the Severn Valley and the Vale of Evesham. This route runs the length of the Cotswolds, and can be picked up pretty much anywhere you visit. See extra info on Airport Taxi Gatwick.

Hyde Park is open from 5 a.m. until midnight each day. Closest tube stations are Lancaster Gate (Central line), Hyde Park Corner (Piccadilly line), Marble Arch (Central line) and Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line). The birthplace of Queen Victoria, and home to Kensington Palace, Kensington Gardens boasts beautiful marble fountains, and the Princess Diana Memorial playground, which is a great stop if you’re traveling with children — they can blow off some steam here on the big wooden pirate ship. Kensington Gardens was once a part of nearby Hyde Park, though is now its own space with a mix of new and old attractions. If you’re a big kid at heart, there’s also a bronze statue of Peter Pan — the creator of this much-loved fictional character, novelist JM Barrie, lived nearby and commissioned the recently refurbished statue more than 100 years ago.

OH MY GOD. When you arrive in the South Terminal make a beeline for the bathrooms on the right just before you hit Boots and M&S. They are incredible! Basically each stall has its own sink, hand drier, and little storage area. They are HUGE. I’m 99.9% sure that some of them are bigger than most London apartments. I know it’s a little weird to be so impressed with a bathroom, but I have a tiny bladder so I always pay attention to them. Good job to whoever designed these! I loved the TV, it’s in the wall at the foot of the bed so it makes it super cosy and enclosed. You can book rooms for just 4hrs if you have a transfer, or as long as you need. Standard cabins start from £37 per night.
