Can you play it? While GTA V is by far Rockstar’s most profitable game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is the studio’s magnum opus. A prequel to the original RDR, Red Dead Redemption 2 follows Arthur Morgan and the Van der Linde gang. It’s an outlaw story for the ages, with fantastic photo-realistic visuals and unparalleled attention to detail. The story shines, with a seamless transition between the third-person gameplay and the many wonderfully directed cutscenes. The lengthy 50-plus hour main campaign is full of dynamic events and missions that always feel different than the last. The gorgeous set pieces and delightful story beats are accompanied by one of the greatest soundtracks in modern gaming. Like GTA V, there’s also an online mode in Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead Online is still in its relative infancy, but it already has some great multiplayer modes and engaging co-op missions. Buy it for the main campaign, stick around for the online fun that will continue to evolve in the years to come.

Monster video strain resource game pick of the day : While Grand Theft Auto V isn’t all that taxing on normal settings, if you crank it up to its absolute highest graphical settings and really lay on the extras (4K textures, high population variety, maximum distance scaling, etc.), the game can get pretty demanding. And, of course, let’s not forget about the main draw of GTA V on PC: the mods. If you want computationally intensive mods that turn the cartoonish base game into a near-photorealistic interactive action movie, you’re going to need computing horsepower out the wazoo, potentially more so than with any other game on this list. Before you tinker with your copy of GTA V, though, remember that Rockstar is awfully touchy about modding and might ban you from GTA Online if you toy with any component of the game. I like Star Wars games and usually this games are resource intensive. Before Disney pulled the plug on it in 2014, Tiny Death Star was a great little way to kill a few hours on your phone. The developers at NimbleBit built on their experience from their previous title, Tiny Tower, to serve up a Star Wars experience like no other. Adding a sense of galactic scale to the business simulation genre, players are invited to build and expand a Death Star by running virtual businesses within it. The game is surprisingly addictive and it loves to throw unexpected challenges at you. If you want to have a go, there are still ways to access the game despite its cancellation, if you know where to look. (Hint: try searching ‘how to play Tiny Death Star’ on Google.) The Phantom Menace was a pile of…bantha fodder. I’ll never forgive George Lucas for Jar Jar Binks, or for (spoiler alert!) killing off Darth Maul after having him on screen for about five minutes. But, it’s hard to argue against how exciting the Pod Racer scene was. Turns out, it didn’t make for a bad game, either. Originally for the Nintendo 64 (Dreamcast, PS2 and even a superior arcade machine version – complete with full-scale racer cockpit – were eventually produced too), Star Wars Episode I: Racer turned the scene quite effortlessly into a racing title. Somewhere between Wipeout and Mario Kart, it had a great campaign mode that let you upgrade parts for your pod racer, buying scrap from sleazy merchant Watto. With winding canyon courses that require you to do the floating-on-one-side-to-fit-through-a-chasm trick, it had a few heart-in-mouth moments, too.
